Kira Hartz

Kira Hartz is an MA Anthropology student and Student Assistant on the European Research Council Advanced Grant project ANGLE at the University of Copenhagen. Her research interests lie at the intersection of the anthropology of anger, art, and activism, shaped by years of engagement with international youth programmes, social movements, and non-profit organisations.

Kira takes a bold and sensitive approach to exploring how political alternatives are imagined and materialised. Her fieldwork has included research at a Danish boarding school on young people’s understandings of sexuality and sex education, as well as several months of research on queer artivism in Peru and Colombia. Across her research, she is particularly interested in experimental and multimodal approaches, combining ethnographic methods with filmmaking and creative co-creation.

Alongside her academic work, Kira has extensive experience in community and volunteer engagement, project management, and campaigning through her work with organisations including Save the Children, Amnesty International, Global Contact and Sex & Samfund. Her combined experience in research, activism, and NGO work informs her commitment to exploring how anger and other forms of affect can drive political action and social transformation.
