Dennis Rodgers

Dennis Rodgers is a University Professor and A*Midex Excellence Research Chair in the MESOPOLHIS laboratory at Aix-Marseille University, France. His research focuses on issues relating to the dynamics of urban conflict and violence in cities in Latin America (Nicaragua, Argentina), South Asia (India), and Europe (France, Switzerland), including in particular as they relate to gangs. He has authored or edited over 250 publications, including the volumes Global Gangs (2014), Ethnography as Risky Business (2019), and Gang Lives (2026). Between 2019 and 2024 he directed the European Research Council-funded project on “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Comparative Global Ethnography” (GANGS).
