Asta Liv Vitus Simonsen

Asta Liv Vitus Simonsen is an MA Anthropology student and a Student Assistant on the European Research Council (ERC) Grant project ANGLE at the University of Copenhagen. With bachelor’s degrees in both History and Anthropology, she brings an interdisciplinary perspective to the study of social and cultural life, combining historical and anthropological approaches. Her academic interests include emotions, sensory history, cultural memory, and colonial legacies. Her bachelor’s research in Anthropology examined knowledge and colonial heritage in Greenland, based on fieldwork in Nuuk and the surrounding area. She has also conducted fieldwork in the Scottish Highlands, exploring how the suppression of Gaelic language and culture continues to shape identity and community. 

Through her work on ANGLE, Asta is particularly interested in how emotions, historical contexts, and cultural experiences shape social dynamics and everyday life. Alongside her academic work, she has experience in museums and cultural communication.
